Visit the upper and lower monastery

The itinerary covers both parts of Ostrog. At the upper monastery, the visit takes in its mosaics and churches, including the Church of the Presentation associated with the relics of St Basil. The lower monastery adds the Church of the Holy Trinity and its frescoes.

The guide explains the pilgrimage traditions and stories associated with St Basil. The monastery is visited by people of different faiths, and 12 May is a major pilgrimage date. The upper complex includes the Church of the Holy Cross and the Church of the Presentation; the lower complex includes the Church of the Holy Trinity.

A walk along the pilgrims’ path can be requested. It is optional, so tell Caeli whether you want to hike or prefer the standard visit. Discuss any access needs before booking.
