Spas, Salons, Clinics and Wellness in Kotor
Kotor's health and beauty trade covers hair salons, nail bars, dental and aesthetic clinics, hotel day spas, physiotherapy, gyms, yoga studios and pharmacies.
Three audiences sustain Kotor's health and beauty trade: residents using neighbourhood salons and clinics; visitors picking up day-spa treatments at the hotels along the bay; and a small but steady stream of Western European medical tourists arriving for dental and cosmetic work that prices well below their home countries.
The independent salon and barber trade clusters along the bay road north of the Sea Gate, with a second cluster around the Kamelija centre. Old Town locations are scarce because the historic interiors don't suit treatment-room layouts. Hair, nails, facials, threading and eyelash work run €15 to €40 per service. Outside July and August walk-ins are usually fine; in peak season same-day phone booking is necessary. Several spots cluster along Put I Bokeljske Brigade and the residential streets behind the Kamelija centre.
Hotel day spas in Dobrota, Muo and Prčanj cover the higher-end work, hot-stone and aromatherapy massage, hammam circuits, hydrotherapy pools. A 60-minute massage runs €40 to €70; couples and half-day packages €100 to €200. Hotel spas are usually open to non-residents with prior booking. Blue Kotor Bay in Muo and the Hyatt Regency in Dobrota are the standard upper-end stops.
Dental and aesthetic clinics in Kotor and the neighbouring bay villages have grown into a small medical-tourism cluster over the last decade. Implants, crowns, veneers and orthodontic work routinely price 40 to 60 percent below equivalent treatments in Italy, Austria and the UK, drawing a steady cross-border patient stream from those countries. Most clinics arrange Tivat airport pickup (15 minutes by road) for multi-day treatments and quote in euros up front.
Everyday healthcare runs through Dom Zdravlja Kotor, the public health centre on the bay road about a kilometre south of the Old Town. Private GPs and pharmacies fill in around it. Pharmacies along the bay road and at Kamelija stay open until 21:00 in summer; one runs 24-hour duty rotation, with that day's name posted on every pharmacy door.
