The views across the water open toward the mountains of Lovčen as the bay begins to widen.
Like Perast and Dobrota, Prčanj grew wealthy during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries through the fortunes of its sea captain families. The Church of the Birth of Our Lady, begun in 1789 and not completed until 1909, is the largest church on the Bay of Kotor and the most visible landmark in the village, its unfinished neoclassical facade facing the water. Baroque palaces line the road on either side, some restored and occupied, others in varying degrees of ruin that give the village a quietly distinctive character.
Things to do in Prčanj centre on the waterfront: swimming from rocks and small jetties, walking routes along the coastal road and easy access to boat tours on the bay. Restaurants in Prčanj serve fresh seafood in traditional konoba settings overlooking the water. Accommodation includes waterfront hotels, self-catering apartments and private rentals, and the village sits within fifteen minutes of both Kotor and Tivat by car.
