Make the journey north
This is a full-day journey, with an early pickup and a long return drive. The sample programme begins in Budva and includes an optional cafe stop in Niksic before continuing towards Durmitor. Confirm the actual departure and return times for your hotel.
The complete route is advertised at ten to eleven hours. It suits a day kept free for the mountains rather than an outing squeezed between other fixed plans.
Walk beside Black Lake
In Durmitor National Park, spend time around Black Lake and the surrounding coniferous forest. The route then continues across the Durmitor Plateau, passing mountain landscapes, lakes and medieval burial sites described in the operator’s programme.
Park entry, guiding and a traditional Montenegrin food tasting are included. The tour is private, and Caeli accepts requests to adapt or skip parts of the route.
Stop at Tara Canyon and the bridge
The later part of the day reaches Tara Canyon and Djurdjevica Tara Bridge, with time to look over the river and surrounding slopes. An optional zip-line is offered as a separate activity rather than an included part of the tour.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and a jacket appropriate to the season. Drinks, personal expenses, tips and the zip-line are excluded. Discuss any changes and extras when requesting your quote.
The optional Niksic break offers krempita cake with coffee, or Niksicko beer. Around Black Lake, the walk passes coniferous woodland; the plateau drive adds glacial lakes and medieval necropolises. The canyon viewpoint and bridge stops provide different perspectives of the Tara landscape. The optional zip-line is paid separately, and sections of the day can be skipped by arrangement.
