Most family-style places run a long mixed menu covering pizza, pasta, salads, grilled meats and a couple of fish options, so a table of mixed eaters can order without compromise. Pizza prices typically sit at €7 to €13 for a 30 cm pie, pasta at €8 to €14, grilled meats and chicken plates at €10 to €18, with a children's menu (smaller portions of pasta or chicken with chips) usually €5 to €8. Local-style mixed grill platters for two run €25 to €40.

In the Old Town the family places sit on or just off the main squares (Trg od Oružja, Trg od Brašna), with outdoor tables under awnings in summer.
