Kotor's headline activity is the bay. The classic half-day boat tour leaves the town marina between 09:00 and 10:00 and runs three to four stops: Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Škrpjela), the man-made island church off Perast; the Blue Cave (Plava Špilja) sea cavern on the Lustica peninsula for a swim; and either Mamula island or the Yugoslav-era submarine tunnels carved into the cliffs. A group seat is €25 to €45. Private speedboats from the Kotor or Dobrota marinas start around €120 for a half-day for six people. Sunset cruises with included drinks are an evening product at €30 to €45.
Kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals operate from Dobrota, Muo and the Kotor seafront at €10 to €20 per hour. The standard self-guided route is a circuit toward Our Lady of the Rocks (about 90 minutes each way from town) or short paddles along the inner bay. Day-charter sailing yachts from the marina run €400 to €900 depending on the boat and skipper.
The Ladder of Kotor — the zig-zag fortress trail climbing the rock face above the Old Town to Saint John's Fortress (San Giovanni) at 1,200 metres — is the headline land activity. The Old Town entry route charges €15 between April and October; a back trail from the village of Špiljari behind the rock is free. Plan 90 minutes up, 60 down, and start at dawn or after 17:00 in summer to avoid the heat. The Vrmac ridge across the bay offers a longer alternative with the chance to walk through a disused Austro-Hungarian fort tunnel.
Tandem paragliding launches from Brajići above the bay run €70 to €100 including transfer to the take-off. Diving operators based in Tivat and Herceg Novi run day-trip dives in the bay at €40 to €60 per dive. By road, Lovćen National Park with the Njegoš mausoleum is around 60 minutes via the serpentine; Ostrog monastery is 90 minutes inland. Most operators book through their own sites or hotel reception with same-day or next-day availability outside peak August.
