Gurdic Bastion
Defensive bastion at the southeastern corner of the Kotor Town fortification circuit reinforcing a key section of the walls.

UNESCO-listed historic site in Kotor Old Town
Gurdic Bastion is a defensive structure at the southeastern corner of the Kotor fortification system, forming part of the wall circuit that encloses the Old Town. The bastion was built to reinforce this section of the defences, where the walls meet the natural terrain at the base of the hillside. Its thick stone walls and angular design follow the military architecture principles used in coastal Adriatic fortifications. The bastion provided a vantage point for monitoring approaches from the south and the Gurdic spring area.
The structure is accessible on foot from the Old Town interior via the Gurdic Gate. Visitors can view the bastion walls from multiple angles. The area around the bastion includes the Gurdic spring and a small inlet where freshwater meets the bay. The bastion forms part of the broader fortification system that climbs the hillside toward the San Giovanni fortress. It is within the UNESCO-listed zone and can be included in a walk along the southern wall section.
