Historical Landmarks of Kotor

Historical sites in Kotor covering the UNESCO-listed Old Town, the medieval city walls and the baroque settlements of the inner bay. The Old Town of Kotor sits within a continuous circuit of walls dating back to the 9th century, with later Venetian additions extending the fortifications through the 15th and 16th centuries. The street plan and stone buildings have changed little in layout since the Middle Ages, with the original urban fabric largely intact inside the gates. Perast, 12 km northwest of Kotor, preserves the finest baroque civic architecture in the region, built during the town's maritime peak in the 17th and 18th centuries.
