The museum was found…The Perast Town Museum runs out of Bujović Palace, the seventeenth-century baroque waterfront palace at the southern end of Perast village. The museum was founded by Perast Municipal Council in February 1937 and originally sat in the Town Hall, then moved into Bujović Palace around 1957 after reconstruction work, and reopened in 1998 following earthquake remediation. The building itself is the listing as much as the contents.

The holdings come to roughly two thousand objects across three lines: a maritime collection of ship models, navigational instruments, charts and weapons; an ethnographic collection of jewellery, porcelain, ornaments and costumes; and a historical-art collection of portraits, paintings, coats of arms and Perast captains' flags. Operator-named highlights include portraits of Captains Matija Zmajević and Vicko Bujović, depictions of the Russian princes' maritime training organised by Captain Marko Martinović, paintings by Tripo Kokolja and the Visković family furniture and portrait set. The museum also keeps the Visković family memorial archives, the Perast Municipality Archives, the Elementary School Archives and the museum library. The unified Kotor Museums Service publishes the visitor pages in Montenegrin, English, Italian and Russian.
